University Introduction
Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a comprehensive university and the second largest teaching university in Western Australia. The main campus is located in Joondalup, near Perth, and has developed into a vibrant university town known for its innovative and dynamic campus culture. The university is named after Edith Dircksey Cowan, the first female member of the Australian Parliament, whose portrait also appears on the Australian $50 note.
ECU has three campuses in Australia (Joondalup, Mt. Lawley, and South West) and one in Singapore. It is also a member of the Southeast Asia Higher Education Consortium.
According to the Good Universities Guide, ECU graduates rated the university five stars for teaching quality, a distinction maintained for seven consecutive years (2010-2016). Additionally, ECU graduates have impressive starting salaries, averaging AUD $62,600 annually, ranking 13th in Australia. This performance surpasses well-known universities such as Macquarie University, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and RMIT University.
ECU comprises the School of Business and Law, School of Arts and Humanities, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Medical and Health Sciences, School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Science, School of Education, and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. The university is dedicated to international academic collaboration and research. Notably, ECU is the only university in Western Australia offering a degree in aviation. ECU's VARIO Health Institute is the largest health research center in Western Australia, providing students with extensive resources and research opportunities.
