Southern Cross University is a comprehensive public university. In 1994, the State Government of New South Wales in Australia renamed it Southern Cross University. Its name refers to the Southern Cross constellation, which is the brightest in the southern hemisphere's night sky.

The school emphasizes the integration of theory and practical experience. All courses adhere to one teaching objective, "close contact with industry" and provide students with learning opportunities in connected businesses, including paid internships, industrial visits, and course exchange programs with other schools ( 1-2).
