University Introduction
The University of Tasmania (UTAS) was established in 1890. It is the fourth-oldest university in Australia. Additionally, it is one of Australia's six sandstone institutions. It is also affiliated with the Association of Universities in the United Kingdom. The current number of students exceeds 100. The country's international student population of about 7,000 continues to expand. The school also offers transnational education cooperation courses in Malaysia, China, and Hong Kong, and works closely with other international colleges and institutions.
The University of Tasmania's popular departments include the Department of Agriculture and Forestry and the Department of Marine Science, both of which have world-class research standards. According to the "2020 QS World University Rankings," the University of Tasmania is among the top 100 universities in the world. Philosophy, environmental sciences, biological sciences, sociology, education, geology, and medicine are among the other seven subjects ranked at the top by QS.
In addition, UTAS's initiatives include climate-focused research, offering over 100 courses with climate-focused units, low-carbon energy use in new campus developments, divesting from fossil fuels, and a commitment to carbon neutrality, which has been certified by Climate Active since 2016.
