Tasmania State Nomination 2026-27 | 190 & 491 Places, Invitation Scores, Pathways

分享:

Tasmania state nomination 2026-27 has 2,050 places: 1,250 for the subclass 190 and 800 for the subclass 491. On 5 November 2026 Migration Tasmania invited 96 ROIs (68 for 190, 28 for 491), leaving 828 subclass 190 places and 628 subclass 491 places, or 1,456 in total. Registrations of Interest remain open, with invitations issued weekly.

The 2026-27 programme is noticeably different from last year. The Gold attribute for the Skilled Employment pathway now needs at least one job of 30 or more hours a week, salary bands have moved up, and the subclass 491 Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles (OSOP) pathway will issue no invitations this year. In practice, Tasmania is now almost entirely an onshore programme.

Every figure below is taken from Migration Tasmania and the Department of Home Affairs. Information is current as at 8 November 2026.

Tasmania state nomination 2026-27: how many places are left?

Migration Tasmania announced on 5 August 2026 that it had received 2,050 nomination places. The programme opened to new ROIs on 17 August 2026 and weekly invitations began on Thursday 20 August. The figures published after the 5 November round:

Item Subclass 190 Subclass 491
2026-27 allocation 1,250 800
Places available after 5 Nov 828 628
Applications lodged, not yet decided 94 84
Invitations issued, not yet lodged 119 62
ROIs on hand 769 631

Migration Tasmania does not publish a "places used" figure. Subtracting places available from the allocation suggests roughly 422 subclass 190 and 172 subclass 491 places are no longer available (our calculation, not an official number). The Home Affairs invitation rounds page (updated 2 November 2026) shows Tasmania nominated 271 subclass 190 and 96 subclass 491 applicants between 1 July and 30 September 2026.

The Home Affairs state and territory nomination allocations page still shows only 2025-26 figures (Tasmania: 1,200 for 190 and 650 for 491). As at 8 November 2026, Home Affairs has not published 2026-27 allocations on that page, so the Migration Tasmania figures are the reference.

Tasmania 190 and 491 invitation round: 5 November 2026 results

Tasmania ranks ROIs using its own priority attribute points, which are separate from the Home Affairs 65-point test.

Item Subclass 190 Subclass 491
Invitations 68 (11 Gold, 57 Green) 28 (1 Gold, 27 further)
Lowest score invited 315 74
Six-week rolling average 324 77

A lowest subclass 190 score of 315 means that invitees were effectively Gold or Green pass holders. For the 491, a score of 74 is within reach of candidates holding Orange-Plus attributes.

Migration Tasmania has also switched from a three-month to a six-week rolling average for the minimum score at assessment. If a claimed attribute cannot be verified and your revised score falls below both the latest round's lowest score and the six-week average, the application will be declined. A Gold pass holder who does not meet the Gold attribute is declined regardless of total score.

Subclass 190 vs 491 in Tasmania: basic requirements and obligations

You must first meet the Home Affairs requirements: under 45, an occupation on the relevant list with a valid positive skills assessment, at least Competent English and at least 65 points.

Feature Subclass 190 Subclass 491
Visa type Permanent Provisional, up to five years
Nomination points 5 15
Path to PR Immediate Subclass 191 after three years, if eligible

Important: anyone nominated by Tasmania for a 491 will not be nominated for a 190 in future. If your points allow, aim for the 190 first. Debts owed to Tasmanian Government agencies must be paid, or a payment plan accepted, before you can seek nomination.

Tasmania state nomination 2026-27 pathways

Occupation lists

The only Tasmanian list in 2026-27 is the Subclass 190 TSE Priority Roles (updated 19 August 2026), which applies only to the priority occupation option of the 190 TSE pathway. It covers roles such as accountants, construction project managers, ICT project managers, cafe and restaurant managers, hairdressers and enrolled nurses, with caveats for some occupations. TSG and TER accept all occupations. A separate health, allied health and teaching list determines Gold eligibility. We found no 2026-27 version of the former "Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Occupation List".

Applying from overseas

Because the Australian Government is prioritising visa processing for applicants in Australia, Migration Tasmania will not issue OSOP invitations in 2026-27. The only offshore route is the Subclass 190 Overseas Applicant (Health or Education Sector Job Offer) pathway. It covers ANZSCO groups 241 (school teachers), 251, 252, 253 (health) and 254 (nursing and midwifery). You need a formal job offer from a Tasmanian employer that has operated for at least 12 months, and neither you nor your dependants can have lived in another state or territory in the last 12 months. These ROIs receive a Gold pass.

Gold, Green and Orange passes: how ROIs are ranked

  • Gold (1,000 points): lodge a nomination application immediately.
  • Green (250 points or more): Migration Tasmania states you will be invited within six months, depending on places remaining.
  • Orange (under 250): may be invited within six months; Orange-Plus attributes are prioritised.
  • Red: minimum requirements not met.
Key 190 TSE attributes Points
Gold: health, allied health or teaching (in a school) skills assessment, matching work at the priority income level, last six months in Tasmania with at least one job of 30+ hours every week 1,000
Green: more than two years in a matching Tasmanian role 500
Green: 18-24 months in a matching role 300
Orange-Plus: base salary $106,600+ for 12 weeks 40
Orange-Plus: 15-18 months in a matching role 40
Orange-Plus: 12-15 months in a matching role 30
Orange: 9-12 months in a matching role 25

For TSG, Gold needs only three months of matching health or teaching work; study-related employment of more than 18 months earns an Orange-Plus 100 points (95 for 491). Salary is the base rate, excluding overtime, penalties and casual loading.

What changed from 2025-26?

Item 2025-26 2026-27
Places (190/491) 1,200/650 (Home Affairs page) 1,250/800
TSE Gold Six months matching work Adds one job of at least 30 hours a week
Top salary attribute $102,956 $106,600
TSE 9-12 months matching work 6 points 25 points
491 OSOP Invitation only No invitations
Minimum score at assessment Three-month average Six-week rolling average

The $57,000 / $28.85 priority income level is unchanged. A break of three months or more between jobs resets the qualifying period, and from 1 December 2026 massage therapist and motor mechanic employment must meet setting-specific criteria.

Advice for international applicants

  • Latin American and South African graduates: your passport does not exempt you from English testing, so you need at least Competent English. Proficient or higher adds a Tasmanian attribute point and Home Affairs points. Passport holders from the UK, Canada, New Zealand, the US and Ireland can claim the same point through the exemption.
  • Choose your course carefully: 190 TSG needs a CRICOS course of at least 92 weeks and two years living in Tasmania. Shorter master's degrees qualify only for 491 TSG.
  • Work while you study: TSG recognises an average of nine hours a week during study for employment attributes. Move to full-time work in your field after graduating to reach Orange-Plus or Green.
  • Health and teaching professionals: this is where Gold comes from, both onshore and through the overseas job offer pathway.
  • Family: dependants may live overseas but not in another Australian state; anyone relocating from interstate must arrive at least three months before you apply.

FAQ

Q1: Is Tasmania state nomination 2026-27 still open?

Yes. After the 5 November 2026 round, Migration Tasmania reported 828 subclass 190 and 628 subclass 491 places available, 1,456 in total, with weekly invitations continuing.

Q2: What score do I need for a Tasmania 190 invitation?

It changes each week. On 5 November 2026 the lowest score invited was 315 for subclass 190 and 74 for subclass 491; these are Tasmanian priority attribute points, not the 65-point test.

Q3: Can I apply for Tasmania nomination from overseas?

Only if you hold a health, allied health or teaching skills assessment and a formal Tasmanian job offer, through the Subclass 190 overseas pathway. The 491 OSOP pathway has no invitations in 2026-27.

Q4: How much does Tasmanian nomination cost?

Submitting an ROI is free; the nomination application fee is $387 plus GST ($425.70) and is non-refundable. Visa charges are paid separately to Home Affairs.

Q5: Can I get a Tasmania 190 after being nominated for a 491?

No. Migration Tasmania will not nominate 491 nominees for a 190 in future; the 491 pathway to permanent residence is the subclass 191 visa.
